Painting on Porcelain
Artists will learn how to mix and paint with pigments formulated for kiln firing, and to build layers of jewel-like color over successive firings. The smooth, white surface of porcelain makes a perfect canvas for fine detail paintings such as botanicals and insects.

This renowned watercolorist from Arizona brings her special talents and inspiration to us in this 2-day workshop. Create completed watercolors from on-location sketches. Discover exciting new shapes, concepts and designs!
Day one: do quick studies outdoors, sketching with contour line and ink. Then do a beginning wash on location using your sketches for composition and inspiration. Day two: in the studio you will complete the painting, adding richness of color and detail in your washes from the previous day. You will create excitement and drama with new color combinations, layering techniques, rich saturated washes, glazing and negative shape
painting. Fun and lively critique at the end.

Labs are for self-guided, independent work. Bring your own art materials;
studio space and equipment will be provided. All labs will be monitored.
Take advantage of our wonderful studio space and Whelan X-Press press (handles full-size prints.). You will be working independently and without instruction, so you must have some prior printmaking experience. Bring your own supplies. No acids.

Open Model Life Drawing Night

Lab Description: Work independently from professional figure models. Poses run from 1 to 45 minutes long. Model, lights, and easels provided; bring your own supplies.
Long Pose Figure Drawing
This lab is perfect for anyone wishing to complete a more finished work. Same model and same pose for 6 hours (2 consecutive sessions.) Clothed model.
